chapter seven: looking back for the sake of the future

amen: a firm, convicted, enthusiastic yes

For all the promises of God find their Yes in him. That is why it is through him that we utter our Amen to God for his glory.

1 Corinthians 1:20

our prayers are more than a submission of requests, they are a claiming of God’s promises, which through Christ are made yes. Through Christ and all He has done, God’s promises hold their weight and are true for us. to utter Amen, is not to affirm the validity and need for our own requests, but to affirm the validity and total truth of God’s promises, which are made yes to us through Christ.

to utter amen is to say, “Yes God, through Your son Jesus Christ, all Your promises are true. I have faith in what You have promised me.”

what then, has God promised?
