030717 – Numbers 22 (Balaam)

it says here that the Lord’s anger was kindled because he went, but before that He tells Balaam to go with them; but only do what I tell you.

if we do not heed God’s instructions the first time around, or rather ask him again despite the clear answer, will God give us a new set of instructions, yet still be justified in His anger towards us?

i think the key issue here is that God looks at oir hearts’ posture – what kind of attitude was Balaam showing when he asked God the 2nd time around? it was clear his heart desired the rewards of Balak – that was what angered God, not so much that he went with them.

God, humble my heart and bring me low, that i may desire to obey and please You in every way.
